For cityscapes, sidewalks are ubiquitous which makes them good textures to include in your texture grab bag.

The upper picture is a longer view, showing a few of the seams or joints that run between the blocks.  I believe the seams are some sort of brown felt strips. The bottom view is a close up, and if you look at the expanded views, you can get a pretty good idea of the sidewalk’s composition.  This one shouldn’t be too difficult but should be very useful.

Comments

Here is RorrKonn’s DarkTree for this month.  He especially does a nice job with the color (always).”  Leslie

RorrKonn’s comments:“We are always in need of more Concrete :-) This Month’s Challenge was a lot of fun.” RorrKonn

“This sidewalk texture is from Michael Fross - looks great and thanks for contributing a challenge Frosty!” Leslie

Frosty’s comments:“Here is my attempt at the concrete challenge this month. I tried to keep it simple and I think it looks good (although I like RorrKonn's better). Any feedback would be great since I am still struggling to learn all the components and how they interact with the others.” Michael Fross

“Alain Bertrand sent in this texture.  He always does a nice job.” Leslie

Alain’s comments: “This month was easier... or at least I prefer the result. If you zoom the texture you will see the gravel structure (flagstone) in the brick component. I started with this, got the small gravel inside the cement, then put a brick component to get the segments of cement separated by dust/gravel. Enjoy” Alain

“This is Sky’s sidewalk. Take a look at his DarkTree, and how he used two copies of the Gravel component (one with a black background) to get his rocks to fade to black rather than the background color. A neat trick!” Leslie

“This is my DarkTree of a sidewalk.  Actually I copied some general ideas from Sky’s sidewalk, principally his use of the Gravel component, but I did add my own ideas as well.” Leslie

Notice: I will be out of town for a few days; so the new challenge won’t be posted until after I return next week. Leslie

I’m sorry I haven’t gotten an end-of-month image done for March. Actually I have one, but so far it looks too horrible to even contemplate posting here. Even I have my prideMaybe later!
